Day Six – Loving Your Curves

I feel very strongly that ‘curves’ are natural, womanly, and real.”

– Kate Winslet

Firstly I wanna explain how I see the difference between self-care and self-love.

To me, self-care is more about doing things. Whether it’s eating healthy or having a weekly chiropractor and nail appointments, self-care is taking actions that improve how you see yourself.

Self-love, on the other hand, is about your thoughts and how you treat yourself and love yourself. For example, being kind to yourself, forgiving yourself, not being judgmental about how you look, etc.

So today I want to talk about loving our curves.

We all have them. Some of us have a big booty, wider hips, or a larger chest that we wish were smaller. Or maybe all these attributes are small to you and you wish they were bigger. Either way, we all have curves that we don’t love about ourselves all the time.

The truth is that you can’t hate your body and love who you are. You can’t wish you looked different and love yourself. So how can you learn to appreciate your curves and love yourself?

Also think about your curves as just another part of you like your kidney, bones, toenail, etc. They don’t define you. They’re a part of you. They make you YOU. They make you unique.

Whenever you start to get annoyed with your curves or lack thereof, look in the mirror and say something positive about them. Instead of “ugh my butt is too big” try “My butt fills out these jeans really well.” It’ll feel silly at first, but you’ll soon start to appreciate all your curves and love what you got!
