Day One – Walking & Resource Packs

“Walking is the best possible exercise. Habituate yourself to walk very far.”

– Thomas Jefferson

Welcome, everyone! Day one is the perfect day for our first Time to Raise Your Heart Rate Tuesday!! <3

We all know that exercise – especially cardio where we get that heart rate up – is very important but if you’ve ever wondered why I have some answers for you!

The biggest reason raising our heart rate is important is because it helps to strengthen our hearts and lower our blood pressure. High blood pressure is a huge risk factor for heart disease so it makes sense that the lower our blood pressure, the lower our risk of heart disease. Making sure we’ve included some type of cardio into our days, weeks, years, etc., the healthier our hearts will be!

The simplest and easiest cardio exercise to fit into your day is walking! It’s recommended to do at least 30 minutes of walking a day, 5 days a week to really get the heart-healthy benefits! Walking can not only reduce your risk of heart disease but can also manage your blood cholesterol and manage diabetes as well as improve your mood!

It’s time to lace up those shoes, put in those earbuds, and get in some walking!

With each daily post, you’ll notice a “Spark Your Heart” challenge. Complete this challenge daily for your chance to be our winner at the end of the month!

– Spark Your Heart Mini-Challenge: Tell me if you got your trackers and resource sheets printed out and then answer… What shoes do you wear for walking? Let’s see them!
